In 2002, President Bush expanded the Americorps initiative to 25,000 volunteers by creating the USA Freedom Corps, which includes AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, Senior Corps, Learn and Serve America, and Citizen Corps, after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
