Biography

Sister Prudence Mary Croke, R.S.M., joined the faculty of the Theology Department at Salve Regina College in 1968. Prior to coming to Salve, she taught at Saint Xavier’s Academy in Providence.

Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late James V. and Prudence (Wadsworth) Croke . Sister entered the Sisters of Mercy on September 8, 1944, and professed her final vows on August 16, 1950.

She earned a B.A. from Salve Regina College, an MA in Theology from Catholic University, and a Ph.D. in Religious Studies from Boston University.

Her ministries included teaching in St. Catherine Academy, Belize, and Maria Regina, Honduras, and at the former St. Xavier’s Academy in Providence. She remained at Salve Regina University until her retirement in 2004.
