Biography
Glenn Giuttari was born in Providence, R.I., in April of 1943. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music from Brown University, and later returned there to continue his studies through graduate courses in the same field.
While attending graduate courses at Brown, Giuttari assisted in the founding of The Providence Singers, a choral performing group based in the Providence area.
Heavily involved in the music scene, Giuttari was also a known member of The American Guild of Organists, The American Recorder Society, The College Music Society, and The American Choral Foundation. He is known to have participated in the organization of a number of music festivals as well, including the Rehoboth Music Festival in the summer of 1973.
Glenn Giuttari worked at Salve Regina University for eight years. During his time at the university, Giuttari served in many positions and coordinated a number of different groups and events. Initially joining the Salve community in 1969 as Director of the Glee Club, Giuttari organized dozens of concerts and performances showcasing the musical talent of Salve’s students. In just his second year with the university, Giuttari was brought on as a part-time instructor of Creative Arts within the Music Department, and two years later, his position was upgraded to full-time for all his dedication and enthusiastic commitment to the school’s music program. Giuttari also served as Music Department Chair and Fine Arts Coordinator while at Salve. Giuttari voluntarily left his position with the Salve faculty in 1977.
Giuttari now owns and runs the Harpsichord Clearing House, which specializes in the sale and restoration of new and used historical keyboard instruments. He can also be found performing with friends and fellow musicians, Mike Shand and Will Ayton, in their group known as The Greybeards.
