Biography

Sep. 27, 1935-May 13, 2005. John Lappin (Brother Eugene) FSC, 69, of Christian Brothers Community in Narragansett, R.I., died Friday May 13, 2005 at Christian Brothers Center. He entered the Brothers of the Christian Schools (also known as the De La Salle Brothers" in 1953, pronouncing his final vows in 1960. Brother Eugene received a Bachelor of Arts degree in French and Spanish at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. in 1958; a Masters degree in French and Spanish also from the Catholic University in 1961; and a Doctoral in romance languages from Harvard University, Cambridge, Mass. in 1975. Brother Eugene returned to Narragansett, R.I. in the spring of 1992 and was instructor/director of the Ph.D. program at Salve Regina University in Rhode Island, until his death.
