Biography

Born on January 24, 1893 in New Hampshire, Sister Mary Emeria Tobin was the daughter of William J. Tobin and Helen Hughes Tobin. attended St. Xavier's Academy in Providence, RI, from 1907 to 1911, and professed her vows on December 27, 1913. Some of the places where she lived or work include St. Mary's Academy Bayview, Catholic Teachers College, St. Augustin's Convent, St. Mary's Convent in Pawtucket, and St. Patrick's parish in Providence, where she was superior and principal. She earned her Bachelor's degree from Providence College in 1935 and her Master's in Education from The Catholic University of America in 1938. She served as principal at St. Mary's Academy, Bay View. In 1951 she joined the faculty of Salve Regina College as an instructor in Education, and became dean in 1953. She died February 21, 1956, and was buried at St. Francis cemetery in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
