Newport (R.I.)

This collection contains documentation of the life and teaching of Christopher Kiernan, faculty member and administrator at Salve Regina from 1980 to 2009.

The collection consists of research files and materials compiled by Patrick Murphy about St. Augustin's Church and St. Augustin's School. Included in these documents are publications and programs, photographs of students and school activities; operational documents; and an extensive, indexed range of newspaper clippings copies referencing the church and school.

The ephemera in this collection includes both primary sources from Newport, such as pamphlets, postcards, newspaper articles, brochures, event programs, etc., as well as secondary sources about the history of Newport. The documents in the collection are mostly publications, not manuscript material or other types of unique items.

This record group contains communications and administrative materials originating from the office of the Dean of Women. The papers of Sister M. Constance, RSM, the Dean of Students whose title changed to Dean of Women in 1959, are not present.
