Biography

Originally from Taipei, Taiwan (called Formosa) Shao-Ling Hwa graduated from Salve Regina College in 1955. Her address was listed as Chung Shan Road.

During her time at Salve Regina, she was a member of the Business Club. She served on the typing staffs of both student newspaper Ebb Tide and the yearbook, Regina Maris. In the Home Economics Club fashion shows, she appeared in a Chinese dress known as a cheongsam or qipao.

Sometimes after graduation, she took her vows at Maryknoll, NY, and was one of the three first nuns in the congregation of the Sisters of the Sacred Heart of of Jesus and Mary, founded by Bishop Frederick A. Donaghy, MM in the Archdiocese of Taipei. Her religious name became Sister Mary Theresa. She lived at the Holy Cross Convent in Tung-Lo, Miaoli, Taiwan.
