Biographical Note

Sister Lucille Hugh McKillop, R.S.M. (1924?-2008) served as the fifth president of Salve Regina College and then Salve Regina University from 1973 to 1994. She was born in Chicago and entered the Sisters of Mercy in 1944.

During her tenure as president, Salve Regina became a co-educational school and evolved from a college to a university.

The McKillop Library at Salve Regina University is named after Sister Lucille McKillop.

Processing Information

The collection was transferred to the Archives and processed sometime before 2014, possibly by former Archivist Sister Eleanor Little. Brittany Fox '18 created an inventory for the collection. In spring 2021, University Archivist and Special Collections Library Genna Duplisea refined the arrangement and published the correspondence series of the collection.
